Resetting the standard since 1975: the VisuSewer story.

1970s: Innovation from the outset.
Founded in 1975 by Ernest Alexander, VisuSewer began with a core group of employees dedicated to elevating the quality of sewer inspection and maintenance services across the industry. During our first few years, VisuSewer focused primarily on cleaning and inspection work. This was when techniques like hydro-jet flushing and CCTV inspection were just being developed. As an early adopter and innovator, VisuSewer was instrumental in the refinement of these techniques, many of which have since been adopted by others in the trenchless industry.

1980s: Expanding expertise and footprint.
In the 1980s, VisuSewer’s scope of work spread to rehabilitation services such as injection grouting, slip lining, manhole lining, and fold and formed lining. Our Minneapolis/St. Paul office opened in 1988, and we also opened satellite offices in Dayton, OH, and Houston to handle large-scale projects.

1994-2012: Growth in all directions.
Other significant milestones in VisuSewer’s history include the introduction of CIPP in 1994; the promotion of Keith Alexander to President in 2001; and the acquisitions of Internal Pipe Inspection (Chicago) in 2003, I-Jets (Mason City, IA) in 2008 and Walden Technologies (East St. Louis, IL) in 2012.

2020s: Setting and raising the standard.
VisuSewer was a founding member of NASSCO, the National Association of Sewer Service Companies, and is honored to be the only company with three past Presidents of the NASSCO Board of Directors: Ernest Alexander (1985), Keith Alexander (2004) and John Nelson (2012). We are proud to share NASSCO’s important mission: to set industry standards for the assessment, maintenance and rehabilitation of underground pipelines and to ensure the continued growth of trenchless technologies.
